Walden University and the College of Nursing also have a vision and mission, which include helping you to make your own vision a reality. Members of your new academic community, such as faculty, support teams, and fellow students, can also be helpful. Current practitioners and other members of the professional community can also help you to clarify your vision.

This Module’s Discussion asks you to consider how the Walden mission and vision as well as the College of Nursing’s mission and vision apply to your professional and academic goals. You will also begin to identify individuals and teams who can help you along the way as you begin designing the “blueprint”—your Academic Success and Professional Development Plan—that will guide you toward your own vision for academic and professional success.Walden MSN Program Outcomes Essay

My Goals and Walden University Vision and Mission Being an Emergency Room nurse for 7 years and working as a traveling nurse in many different parts of the country has impacted my future and decision of going back to school. My personal career goal is to become a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with specialization in pediatric critical care area, mainly pediatric emergency medicine. I have known since a very young age that I had a gift for working with children. My colleagues always call me the “pediatric nurse”. I feel it takes a very special type of person to work with pediatrics, and this is where my heart is. I chose to become a FNP to broaden my area of expertise and to leave multiple doors open to work in different areas. I have
profession, communities, and in society” (para. 5). I want to continue to broaden my knowledge over the life of my career. I also believe in using this knowledge to positively impact others in all aspects of healthcare. Incorporating Social Change I agree with Walden University’s (2013a) view on social change that “Walden supports social change through the development of principled, knowledgeable, and ethical scholar-practitioners, who are and will become civic and professional role models by advancing the better of society” (para. 4). I plan to incorporate social change in my profession by applying my past work experiences and knowledge from school to become a better professional role model to my patients, co-workers and community. An example of one learning outcome for the Master of Science in Nursing is to “exhibit ongoing commitment to professional development” (Walden University, 2013b, para. 3). I am constantly trying to learn new ways to improve and better my knowledge and education. I recently obtained my Certified Emergency Nurse certification and will soon be taking the Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse exam.Walden MSN Program Outcomes Essay

My Goals and Walden University Mission
Introduction
After surviving nursing school to obtain my nursing degree, going back to school had taken a back seat on my list of goals. However, after working in the nursing field for the past two years, I have realized the importance and benefits of an advanced degree. My goal of attending graduate school is to prepare a career as a Nurse Administrator.Walden MSN Program Outcomes Essay
While looking for a school to obtain my MSN, a co-worker informed me about Walden University. She had nothing but good things to say about the program, so I looked into Walden University and its Nursing program. The program requirements, flexibility and affordability of Walden University were all great things that made me want to be a part of this program. …show more content…
The mission statement of Walden University speaks about giving ourselves, as students and professionals, the opportunity to transform. On the other hand, the School of Nursing uses the word transform in reference to changing society; “…professionals seeking enhancement of critical thinking skills, abilities to select and implement evidence-based practices, and core and specialty nursing knowledge in order to transform society” (Walden University, 2015a, para.3). Transform can be used interchangeably with words such as: change, alter, renew and mold. Academically, I want to absorb as much information as I can so that I can transform and contribute to my organization and make a difference. My academic goal is a short term goal that will, in the end, allow me to be in a position where I can reach my professional goal. My professional goal is to be in a position where I can use the knowledge obtained from Walden University and my experiences to implement changes to better my organization, which in turn will better society. In the healthcare setting, things are constantly changing and as healthcare providers Walden MSN Program Outcomes Essay
