Junior Research Assistant in Local WHO at your communities

You are a Junior Research Assistant on an infectious disease unit in local World Health Organisation (WHO) at your communities. This is your first time working on a unit like this and it is linked to the studies you have undertaken in public health. Your Supervisor has set certain learning criteria for you in order to enhance your learning experience whilst at WHO, these criteria include: you undertaking research into the epidemiology of both infectious and infectious diseases, being able to apply statistical data and interpret the findings, knowing the different local and worldwide agencies that deal with the study and distribution of disease.

The Supervisor wishes for you to investigate the implications of illness and disease in communities for the provision of health and social care services. In order to complete this you will need to address the priorities and different approaches that are required, the different relationships between the prevalence of disease and requirements of service to support the individuals affected and finally you will need to analyse the impact of current lifestyle choices and their impingement on health.

Before you complete your placement your Supervisor wants to ensure that you have an overall understanding of the factors that influence the health and wellbeing of individuals within health and social care. In order to demonstrate this you will need to research priorities in health such as physical, psychological and sociological needs. In addition you will need to examine strategies, systems and policies that are in place with regards to the provision of care and reflect upon how these influence the health and wellbeing of individuals. Finally you will need to examine how one can encourage behaviour change through different methods available for example education and input from specialists.

Unit 11 Role of Public Health and Social Care Assignment

Task 1 To gain a pass grade the following criteria as shown below need to be completed

1:1 Including the above case study explain the roles of different agencies in identifying levels of health and disease in communities.
1:2 Choose one infectious and one non-infectious disease that is currently widespread in either the UK or another country that you are familiar with, and explain using statistical data the epidemiology of these diseases.
1:3 Evaluate the effectiveness of different approaches and strategies to control the incidence of disease in communities.

Task 2 To gain a pass grade the following criteria as shown below need to be completedTask

2:1 By using relevant research methods, determine the current priorities and approaches that are in use in the provision of services for people with disease or illness.
2:2 Explain the relationship that exists between the prevalence of disease and the service requirements to support the individuals within the healthcare service in general and within Whitmore Hospital.
2:3 Analyse the impact that current lifestyle choices of individuals can have on the future needs within health and social care services.

Task 3 To gain a pass grade the following criteria as shown below need to be completed

3:1 From the above case study assess the health and wellbeing priorities for the individual patients on the infectious diseases unit at Whitmore Hospital.
3:2 Evaluate the effectiveness of strategies, systems and policies in a health and social care setting.
3:3 Discuss changes that could be made to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals in a health and social care setting.
3.4 Evaluate an activity that has been implemented to encourage behaviour change for maximising health for individuals in a health and social  care setting.
