The movie “Silver Linings Playbook” is a story about two psychopath’s life. Generally speaking, the most related to psycho problem is emotion controlling. There are a lot of emotion topic including in this movie. I will focus on the emotions learned from the class to discuss with the movie.
In this movie, Pat Solatano is a person who gets the manic-depressive psychosis because of her wife’s cheating. He lost his job and wife after he finish the therapy of the mental disorder in a mental institution. But he is a so positive and optimistic that he wants to rebuild his life and he also wants to reunite with his wife. When he winds up living with his parents, he meets a girl named Tiffany, who also has some disorder in mental, but she helps him to connect with his wife . Moreover, Tiffany and Pat influence each other from a bad situation to get better and heal at the end via the contacting and dancing. Finally, their relationship has changed from “enemy” to a couple. Many experiences happened between them are related even depends on their emotions.In other words, the emotions in this movie is a important part to direct their relationship.
The definition of emotions is “ Our feelings about ourselves and others – The term emotion encompasses both the internal feelings of one person as well as feelings that can be experienced in a relationship”.
People have many types emotion in their life such as basic emotions and blended emotions. The Basic emotions is a common and universal feelings such as happiness,suprise and anger. And the Blended emotions is mixture of basic emotions such as jealousy and hate. In the movie, we can easier to get these emotions appearing in two characters.The easiest one we can find is angry. Pat is always showing angry emotion after he comes out from mental institution. Pat’s action and words show his angry. One scene is that he can not find his marriage video at the mid-night and he is bothering his parents’ sleeping and quarreling.
