Stakeholder involvement means including all the relevant teams that would influence a project’s implementation. It involves assessing their needs, preferences, and priorities and considering and incorporating them into the project implementation. Implementing an informatics project should be based on the available best practices. This discussion presents an identification of the healthcare teams that will be essential in helping support my future practice project, how the teams will support the integration and achievement of the expected outcomes, and the communication, collaboration, and professional organizations for best practices in healthcare informatics.

The selected project involves implementing safety and security safeguards on an institution’s clinical and administrative information systems. Various healthcare teams will be required to support the implementation of the project. These teams include the quality improvement department, the institution leadership team, the research department, and the informatics department team. According to Li et al. (2020), identifying stakeholder teams and their specific roles before the implementation of a project is essential in preventing role confusion and conflicts. Each of these teams has a significant role in the project’s implementation in supporting the integration and achievement of the outcomes we plan to achieve.
The quality improvement team will be in charge of assessing the institution’s readiness to implement practice change. Additionally, based on the institution’s readiness, the team will recommend the most appropriate time to commence project implementation. The team from the research department will be expected to conduct background research on the current privacy and security safeguard systems options available for use, assess them, select the best, and recommend them to the entire project implementation team. The institution’s leadership is the other relevant team to ensure the resources required for the project’s implementation are available. The informatics team will enhance integration and achievement of the expected outcomes by ensuring all aspects relating to security and privacy safeguards are incorporated into the implementation. Most importantly, the team will spearhead the implementation activities since they are most affected by the change.
According to Vourinen and Martinsou (2019), communication and collaboration are some of the most effective methods of promoting stakeholder influence and critical aspects to consider while working with diverse healthcare teams such as the abovementioned teams. Effective communication and collaboration will enhance working together and implementation success. The communication best practices include using multiple channels of communication, open and timely communication, and encouraging communication among the teams. Verčič and Špoljarić (2020) note that the choice of communication channel significantly impacts communication and satisfaction, especially when communicating with diverse groups. Similarly, I will use multiple communication channels to ensure every team is informed on the project implementation progress on time. Open communication and maintaining an ongoing conversation among the team members is another communication best practice ensuring all teams work on the same page. The collaboration best practices that will be considered are role communication, team expectations, and the overall goal. The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) will also be consulted for best practice recommendations on safety and security safeguards.
In summary, the essential healthcare teams that will be included in implementing the informatics project are the informatics department, research, quality improvement and leadership teams. Communication and collaboration best practices will be used to ensure the teams work together effectively. AMIA is the professional organization that will be consulted for informatics best practice recommendations.
