Reflection on Learning and Practice Readiness
Reflecting on learning is an essential part of any course or program. Reflection provides a student with a platform to gauge whether the learning outcomes have been met and how going through the course/program has challenged their thinking (Morris, 2020). Additionally, reflection on learning enables a student to identify learning gaps, thus preparing to do better in the future. This discussion reflects on my readiness to practice as a DNP-prepared nurse and how the lessons learned in this course have impacted my professional practice.

My thinking was considerably challenged in this course related to translation science; synthesis, analysis, summary, and using evidence-based interventions to address practice change. First and foremost, I understood the significance of translational science models as a framework for practice change project design. Exploring the different models and their sustainability will enable me to select the models easily based on the practice change project, the intervention, and the requirements. Moore, Watters & Watson (2019) note that DNP-prepared nurses should have the necessary skills to provide research evidence supporting practice change projects. Similarly, I have appreciated and gained the skills required to summarize and synthesize evidence to support practice problems.
The lessons learned and the knowledge acquired from this course has increased my readiness to practice as a DNP nurse. One of the major roles of the DNP nurse is to lead healthcare institutions in developing solutions for different practice problems (Zuzelo, 2021). Translation science and research synthesis have prepared me to play this role adequately. I will positively impact my practice setting by using my skills to lead the other healthcare providers in translating evidence-based interventions to improve practice and address practice change projects.
The course learning objectives were met as expected. The lessons challenged my thinking in the process of addressing practice change projects and translating existing evidence to address practice problems. The course has therefore prepared me to practice as a DNP-prepared nurse.
