Objective 1: Using the diagnostic criteria established by the DSM-V, I will conduct clinical evaluations on at least three patients suffering from co-occurring mental disorders during the course of the subsequent ten weeks (Shain et al., 2018).

Planned Activities:To avoid unnecessary delays in the delivery of treatment, I will make it a point to review each patient’s medical history on each of my hourly rounds.
Mode of Assessment:In order, for me to properly complete my goal, I will need to diagnose at least 10 patients weekly(Academic Skills Center Success Strategies, n.d.).

Objective 2: Upon completion of my practicum, I will be able to identify and utilize the best screening tool to help diagnose at least five patients with concomitant mental problems every day for 10 weeks (Shain et al., 2018).
Planned Activities: I will discuss a variety of techniques for identifying mental disorders. I will then use just those diagnostic methods that are most suited for each patient, taking into account both subjective and objective information.
Mode of Assessment:I will utilize the diagnostic criteria from the DSM-V to determine whether or not the results of the diagnostic tool are in line with the findings (Standards of Practice for Nurse Practitioners, n.d.).

• Make use of the evaluation, diagnostic, and therapeutic abilities that are associated with advanced practice nursing in mental health settings.
• Examine some examples of innovative treatments for mental illness provided to individuals of various ages.

Objective 3: Over the following eleven weeks, I will instruct at least five patients on the most effective forms of group and family therapy, as well as the use of psychotropic medicines, to promote positive results (Shain et al., 2018).
Planned Activities: I plan to educate my patients on the mental illness they are experiencing, from its etiology to its treatment options, including psychotherapy.
Mode of Assessment:I will be able to gauge my patients’ level of satisfaction with the information I have delivered by allowing them to express feedback and ask questions (International Council of Nurses, 2020).
PRAC Course Outcome(s) Addressed:
• Examine some examples of innovative approaches to treating mental illness in people of all ages.
• Create effective therapy strategies that incorporate both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy.
• To enhance mental health facilities’ clinical practice, join multidisciplinary teams as a social change agent(International Council of Nurses, 2020).

I intend to complete the 144 or 160Practicum hours (as applicable) according to the following timeline/schedule. I also understand that I must see at least 80 patients during my practicum experience. I understand that I may not complete my practicum hours sooner than 8 weeks. I understand I may not be in the practicum setting longer than 8 hours per day unless pre-approved by my faculty.

As you establish your goals and objectives for this course, you are committing to an organized plan that will frame your practicum experience in a clinical setting, including planned activities, assessment, and achievement of defined outcomes. In particular, your plan must address the categories of clinical reasoning, quality in your clinical specialty, and interpersonal collaborative practice.
For this Assignment, you will consider the areas you aim to focus on to gain practical experience as an advanced practice nurse. Then, you will develop a Practicum Experience Plan (PEP) containing the objectives you will fulfill in order to achieve your aims. In this practicum experience, when developing your goals and objectives, be sure to keep PMHNP clinical skills in mind.
