Things to consider for your Spirituality Paper

As part of a Community Assessment, a community nurse must evaluate the places of worship and the spiritual well-being of the population. “Assessing a patient’s spirituality is just one aspect of a complete health assessment, but it is a very important one. It contributes to one’s total view of the person and reinforces the notion of holistic care”. Anandarajah & Hight (2001) proposed a model for spiritual assessment that uses the acronym HOPE. Please see the Hope model in your syllabus for more information.

Think about how spirituality affects patients’ well-being. Can religion or spirituality promote healing? If so how?

Patients who are spiritual may utilize their beliefs in coping with illness, pain, and life stresses.

Some studies indicate that those who are spiritual tend to have a more positive outlook and a better quality of life. If that is the case, how?

You may refer to/cite the Ministry of Healing (see syllabus for appropriate chapters on community nursing)

Does spirituality affect:

-          Coping with an illness?

-          Recovery from an illness?

-          Mortality?

-          How does that apply to community nursing?

Make sure: 

-          To focus on spirituality as it relates to Community Nursing.

-          To watch for grammatical error/read your paper before submitting it

-          Your paper must be at least 2 pages (double-spaced) long (not including title and reference page)

-          Your intext citations do not exceed more than 2 lines. If you have a long citation, you must paraphrase it then cite it.

-          Your paper MUST be in APA format (include a title page, intext citation, reference page…)

-          To have at least 2-3 references in your paper
