Question
Paper Description & Rubric This paper
aims to provide nurses information about a pediatric condition that may be seen
frequently in pediatric nursing practice and allows nurses an opportunity to
understand the important aspects of providing care for a child suffering from
the condition. Your paper should address the following questions:
• Overview: What the disease or illness is?
(Laymen’s terms – what is the definition). What is the purpose of the paper?
•
Infection Prevention and Control: Are there any preventative measures to stop
the spread if it, is it contagious? What type of precautions would the patient
require, if any?
• Assessment: How is it assessed by nursing
staff? What are the key nursing assessments? Are there changes to your
assessment that would be required depending on the growth and developmental
stage of the client?
• Nursing Dx: What is 1 priority nursing
diagnosis would you make for this patient and/or their family? • Interventions:
What are some of the nursing interventions that can be done to help support
healing, wellness or the symptoms of the disease/illness. Are there
psychosocial or cultural related interventions needing consideration?
• Evaluation: How will the nurse know the
child is getting better and/or approximately how long does the disease or
illness usually last. Is this a curable disease/illness or do you need to allow
time for your immune system to deal with it? What does this mean – to allow
your immune system to deal with it? Can you contract this disease or illness
again? Are there community supports available for this condition? •
Summary/Conclusion Note: All of your points need to be supported by evidence.
