There are two types of studies that are commonly used in research, qualitative and quantitative. The purpose of this paper is to determine if quantitative data supports that including patient hand hygiene decreases clostridium difficile (C. difficile) infections and if qualitative data supports a successful delivery of family-centered care (FCC) by adult-trained perioperative nurses. ​​
