Summary of Current Course Content Knowledge
Prior knowledge of course content is essential for students pursuing advanced studies in various areas of specialization like geriatrics. As such, each course has objectives based on different topics and timelines (Becker et al., 2020). Consequently, the weekly objectives that I have prior knowledge of include conducting a health assessment based on my experience as a nurse in different areas like triage. I also have partial knowledge of documenting clear and concise SOAP notes for patients. Further, nurses need to demonstrate ethical and caring behaviors which enable them to incorporate spiritual and psychosocial needs. Therefore, I have sufficient knowledge of ethical requirements and demonstrate a caring attitude that allows for the integration of cultural aspects of nurses, including their spiritual and psychosocial needs.

Conversely, I do not have prior knowledge of other weekly objectives that include ordering laboratory and imaging tests as well as analyzing the results to determine the level of care required; from acute and critical to even complex situations. Again, I need more knowledge on the use or application of evidence-based practice (EBP) interventions to effectively treat and manage patients. These objectives are essential and require healthcare providers to attain sufficient knowledge through delivered content by instructors.
As a nurse specializing in adult-gerontology, the course-related topics that I wish to discuss with my instructor and classmates include end-of-life complexities and dilemmas that place healthcare providers in delicate situations. I would also like to discuss the interactions between the use of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies in dealing with acute and critical conditions and comorbidities. Imperatively, the concern that I have about the course is the integration of research and classwork through research projects, especially if there will be a group project for the students to work collaboratively (Henson et al., 2023). Aside from this concern, I look forward to hearing about the experiences of my classmates concerning these topics.
