VARK Analysis Paper
Learning styles explain different ways that individuals prefer acquiring new skills and knowledge. Developed in 1987, the VARK learning model assists individuals to understand the types of learning styles that they prefer. VARK is an acronym that represent the four sensory modalities for learning suggested by Fleming and Mills. These modalities include Visual, Aural, Read/write, and Kinesthetic. These modalities reflect ways that individuals learn best (Sintia et al., 2019). Through the test and analysis, students and teach can find the most effective ways of learning and acquiring skills and knowledge. The purpose of this paper is to discuss my learning style based on the VARK questionnaire and the value of learning styles in general.

Summary of the Learning Style Based on VARK Questionnaire
After the VARK questionnaire test, the outcomes indicate that I have a multimodal learning style or approach. This means that learning occurs through all the four sensory modalities that include visual, aural, read/write and kinesthetic. The results indicate that visual score is 8, aural 9, read/write at 8 and kinesthetic at 9. These results indicate that I prefer doing all things possible to attain learning and new knowledge based on situations (Husmann et al., 2019). The multimodal learning style also implies that I do not have a preferred learning style though aural and kinesthetic aspects score slightly higher than the others. The implication is that while I prefer learning through a practical approach, I also value reading and writing to enhance my understanding of concepts presented. Nursing students with this type of learning preference use diverse learning approach or a combination of several based on what is being taught, the situation and the expected level of application and expertise,
Preferred Learning Strategies
Learning strategies can differ for individuals irrespective of their modality preference. Imperatively, the multimodal learning style is an effective one but it is evident that I prefer the kinesthetic and aural approaches more since they are more practical and allow one to listen more and do in reality. Realistic examples and application as well as hands-on experience are the most critical in solidifying information. As such, they offer opportunities for repetition, clinical experience, and simulations that are valuable in the efforts to retain information and apply it in healthcare settings, especially for nurses. The hands-on learning is the most practical in nursing and health, strategies categorized as aural modalities are essential as well as visual when providing health information to patients (Kouhan et al., 2022). Talking and teaching others about certain concepts and approaches in health care helps enhance one’s understanding of the issue under consideration and its impact on different stakeholders and expected outcomes.
My current preferred learning strategies are similar to the identified strategies based on the VARK. The core learning strategies include kinesthetic and aural which are key in sharing information. A kinesthetic learner employs past practice experiences, senses and examples to attain new insights. Individuals using visuals in learning use different approaches that include diagrams, space, and various images as well as charts and maps. The visual students prefer colors and analyze multifaceted topics using pictorial features (Husmann et al., 2019). Aural learners prefer listening, discussions and taking to share information and new insights. Students using this modal speak out their concepts, and ask questions for clarifications where necessary. As such, these strategies are similar to my current learning approaches as they emphasize application of all modalities to attain expected outcomes.
Effects of Learning Styles in Educational activities and Significance
The learning styles are essential in educational activities for learners and even educators. Individual learning styles impact the level to which a learner understands or performs educational activities based on their abilities to understand and use the information offered. The cognizance of the different learning models, preferences and strategies help students to enhance their potential to learn using diverse learning approaches (Sintia et al., 2019). For instance, nursing students can use the different learning styles to comprehend various concepts taught based on the most effective delivery approach. Facilitating learning preferences among patients implore healthcare providers to prepare to teach by deploying a multimodal approach. For example, through demonstrating and talking what they are teaching, the nurse educator uses both visual and aural modalities while written education and instruction help to provide reminders and are applicable to those who prefer reading and writing.
Through understanding these strategies, teachers can present ideas in an effective manner and teach materials in different learning styles as they feel applicable (Van Der Wege et al., 2020). The implication is that in situations where educators get learners who are experiencing issues in using certain modes, they are in a position to present different modes to assist such learners comprehend the content. Again, it is essential for educators to understand the various models for effective application of each style to cater to the needs of all learners.
Learning Styles and Health Promotion
Evaluating the learning styles of patients is a critical component of patient education and health promotion. Using strategies to meet patients’ individual learning modality not only enhances retention of information but also increases motivation and makes education session attractive since understand. Healthcare providers like nurses attain desired outcomes when they can tailor health education to individual’s learning style.
Learning styles impact the potential for behavioral change as they influence how one perceives and gets knowledge and skills on the subjects or areas being taught (Kouhan et al., 2021). For instance, learning style ensures that they embrace good habits and approaches to health issues. Health care providers can accommodate different learning styles through identification of barriers to health promotion and tailoring interventions to meet set goals. This implies that providers in such situations understand the underlying factors and implement relevant interventions to increase awareness and application of taught knowledge and information offered.
Conclusion
The VARK model of learning styles is a critical approach to knowing and applying different learning styles to help individuals in different situations. These learning styles implore one to understand the one that applies to them but also be willing to use the most effective. Health promotion requires providers to understand different learning styles of their targeted populations and individuals to ensure that they attain expected or desired outcomes.
