Technology Training Programs on Data Safety and Security
Training is an essential part of implementing any project. Initial training ensures that the staff are adequately equipped to embrace change, and ongoing training enhances the sustainability of change. William et al. (2019) note that training enhances the orientation of the employees and staff in the organization on the project, why the project is essential, and how the trainees will take part or be affected by the project change involved. The future change project of focus is the introduction of data security safeguards and an emphasis on data security. Both current and new employees will be included in the training programs. This discussion presents the technology training programs required to implement the informatics project successfully.

The training content for the technology includes technical, user and maintenance training. Two major training programs are needed to implement the informatics program in which the training content will be delivered; the initial and ongoing training programs. Both programs will involve training new employees and other staff members. The initial training program will have two one-and-a-half-hour sessions whereby the staff using the new program will be oriented to its use, the required skills, and how the new program will increase efficiency in their work.
In the two sessions, the training content will include data security, data safety, privacy and security safeguards, including administrative, physical and technical safeguards, and the specific safeguards that will be introduced by implementing the current project. The program will require the facilitation of the informatics project manager, the entire project team, and the informatics department leader. An external information technology and data security expert will be the trainer to ensure the staff gets the correct information.
An ongoing training program is also necessary to enhance the maintenance of the new information systems and keep the staff using these systems up to date with the most current system updates. Studies show that regular informatics-focused training offered to employees in healthcare institutions enables them to keep up with the updated systems, harness their skills, and provide a platform for easily raising issues and concerns on a certain program or system (Hauschild et al., 2021). The ongoing training program will have a two-hour training workshop every month, in which different content will be covered every month. Additionally, all healthcare professionals interacting with the new information systems will be expected to participate in these training workshops.
According to Xu et al. (2021), training new employees on informatics as part of the induction process sets the ground for them to practice and, most importantly, ensures they know what is expected of them. In this case, the initial training program will be offered to the new employees covering the various information systems used in the institution, data safety and security, and the available safeguards. Their roles and how they are expected to handle the various information technology systems and programs should also be clearly addressed. Additionally, the new employees will be encouraged to attend the monthly training workshops, thus ensuring continuous improvement and updating of their skills and knowledge.
Initial and ongoing training on informatics for new employees and other staff members is essential in healthcare institutions. Technology is a dynamic and diverse field; thus, healthcare professionals need regular training to keep up with new systems and programs. As discussed above, the proposed informatics project on data safety and security requires initial and ongoing training programs.
