Metrics Evaluation Assignment 1 Paper
Evaluate relevant indicators of performance, such as benchmarks, research, and best practices, to inform healthcare laws and policies for patients, organizations, and populations.
The current rate of performance by Mercy Medical Center can be established by dividing the number of patients who received foot exams by the total number of patients who visited the hospital that year. The number of patients who received foot examinations in all quarters of 2020 was 272, and the number of patients who visited the facility was 563. The compliance rate of 2020 is 48.31% which is below the average for the state of Minnesota. Data on the performance of the state of Minnesota from the AHRQ database indicates that the state is performing โvery strongly.โ The data for 2020 has not been updated, but 2019 recorded a better-than-average performance. The state recorded 82.9%, compared to the baseline of 87.7%, of adults above 40 years who had received a foot exam in the calendar year of 2019 (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, 2020). Mercy Medical Center is underperforming compared to the baseline performance standards of the state, with a score of 48.31%. The lack of data on the number of persons who visited the hospital in 2019 is missing; therefore, the compliance rate cannot be calculated; instead, it is read from the AHRQ database. This gap in data can influence the evaluation, as there are inconsistencies in the variables needed to calculate compliance in the years.

Foot exams have the highest potential for improvement in the facility. Unlike other automatic tests like Hgb1c, they rely on an excellent degree of precision by the healthcare workers to conduct. The likelihood of human error, if corrected through adequate healthcare worker training and the essential tools required, can help increase the efficiency in diagnosing complications (Song & Chambers, 2022). Similarly, the conduction of foot exams relies on the compliance and participation of the patients. If healthcare workers can devise methods of engaging the patients in their care when they visit the hospitals, they can help to increase the number of patients who comply with the appointments. When patients are involved in planning their care, they are likely to be motivated to promote their health and collaborate with the healthcare workers in achieving their care goals (Murali & Deao, 2019).

First, let me say I reworded the paper because you are a much better writer.
I need Competency 3 rewritten with references, please. I am trying to reach the Distinguished Level. I will upload 10 screenshots of Data Charts that the school provided for Mercy Medical Centers’s Demographics and Data.
COMPETENCY 3
Evaluate relevant indicators of performance, such as benchmarks, research, and best practices, to inform healthcare laws and policies for patients, organizations, and populations.
Here is the Feedback I received for Criterion: Evaluate dashboard metrics associated with benchmarks set forth by local, state, or federal healthcare laws or policies.
Faculty Comments:
I can see you have some ideas here but you do not offer an evaluation of the benchmark measures being tracked. In addition, you do not offer an evaluation of the dashboard as compared to a local, state or national benchmark to determine an actual underperformance.
To get you started, the information in the dashboard is the number of exams performed each quarter, not the compliance rate which will be needed to compare to benchmarks. You will need to add up each quarter to determine the number of exams performed each year. Then you need to divide this number by the total number of patients seen in the year (see fact sheet).
All three measures and benchmarks can be found at AHRQ using this link (or you can also use HP 2020): https://datatools.ahrq.gov/nhqdr
Go to national, all topics & measures. In subject area, select diseases & conditions, topic diabetes. Then review the benchmarks looking for the three that we are tracking in this dashboard.
. To meet distinguished, clearly articulate organizational performance shortfalls and any gaps in information affecting the evaluation. Make sure that the source support and referenced links take me to the information offered within your paper.
Criterion:Evaluate a benchmark underperformance in a health care organization or interprofessional team that has the potential for greatly improving quality or performance.
Faculty Comments
You identified the HgbA1c benchmark as the targeted benchmark. However, this is not based on an effective evaluation of the benchmarks. Once you complete your evaluation of the diabetic benchmarks in Criteria 1, identify one benchmark that has the greatest potential to improve the quality of care provided to reach proficiency. To reach distinguished, provide a fully justified argument for why this benchmark has the greatest potential.
