An Introduction to the Selected Technology Topic
The selected technology topic is telehealth. The use of telehealth is incredibly grown in recent times. This topic was chosen since it has played a great role in improving patient outcomes, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, where many patients were attended to through telehealth in the midst of periods of total lockdown (Doraiswamy et al.,2020). This period highlighted the importance of telehealth. Telehealth also fosters care quality and patient safety by supporting remote care, interprofessional collaboration, and communication. The databases used include Medline, PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, and google scholar. Various search terms were then used to obtain relevant articles. They include “telehealth, “healthcare delivery,” “healthcare quality,” and “patient safety.” The search was then restricted to articles published in the last five years.

The use of telehealth leads to improved care outcomes and reduced physical visits to hospitals hence reducing potential hospital-acquired infection and cutting costs (Gajarawala &Pelkowski, 2021). Therefore, it is worth implementing telehealth as a health technology in organizations. Implementing telehealth will lead to increased efficiency since it is likely to reduce congestion, especially in ED, and lead to patient satisfaction and experience. Telehealth can also improve interdisciplinary retention, satisfaction, and productivity by improving collaboration.

The use of technology, such as telehealth, can have a positive impact on patient outcomes. The technology can also lead to improved efficiency in patient care settings by reducing congestion and improving workflow. The reviewed literature has shown the importance of telehealth in various settings and situations. Hence healthcare organizations should embrace and implement technologies such as telehealth.
