I admit that I was anxious when I initially realized that I would have to participate in a group task. I didn’t have a fantastic group experience in the past. It was excellent to have the chance to collaborate with Cohort A on a group proposal. Being a part of this group taught me how to work with my peers more effectively and that I need to watch how I communicate and express myself (Schneider Corey et al., 2018). We all decided to work together and discuss ideas for this project over weeks three and four. The group dynamics are helpful and understanding, in my opinion. I believe that everyone who worked on this project gave it their all. We all exchanged ideas and suggestions.

My Experience with the Johari Window

From the perspective of the Johari Window, I observed that my interactions within the group evolved as the Johari Window anticipated. I acted passively at first and observed what was happening all around me. I didn’t say much throughout our conversations. According to Luft (1982), when a group develops, Quadrant 1 grows in size, which often results in members acting more naturally and freely. Each member can see the other for who they are. As soon as I gauged the group’s mood, this is exactly what happened. I assumed a greater leadership role since that is the one in which I feel most at ease. I also began to view each individual from their unique perspective.

Results from the Self-Assessment of Leadership Skills

I was able to recognize my strengths and areas for development by completing the “Self-Assessment of Leadership Skills.” Based on my outcomes, I awarded myself good ratings in the modeling and questioning areas (Schneider Corey et al., 2018). In both my current and prior full-time internships, I have experience working with and observing individuals who have received a mental health diagnosis at the bachelor’s degree level. I think I can do better at linking and actively listening. I’ve been aware for a while that I need to improve my listening abilities. Because I tend to communicate when I interact with others, I occasionally find it challenging to be a listener.

Group Process and Dynamics/Summary

I saw that when the group’s dynamics changed, so did my interactions with other members of the group. In my perspective, the group dynamics are beneficial and considerate. I think everyone who contributed to this project worked hard.I hope this presentation provided you with some insight into my experience working with the cohort group I was given (Schneider Corey et al., 2018). I made an effort to consider my whole experience working with this group. Being a part of this organization and experiencing personally how the group functions were fantastic, in my opinion. I have learned so much about being a group leader and member in this little amount of time. The knowledge I’ve gained and the skills I’ve developed in this training will undoubtedly help me become a successful group leader.
