Hello, my name is ___________, and I’m applying for the position of RAMP City Primary School Counselor. I have a master’s degree in school counseling from Walden University and am certified in school counseling by the state of Nevada.
To address discipline issues among students and staff members, I have developed a comprehensive school counseling program. From my observation cyberbullying and peer conflict, in addition to disrespect among students to teachers, is a school-wide problem. My goal is to reduce the cases of reported discipline issues and cyberbullying by the end of this academic year.

To accomplish the job description’s objectives and expectations, I want to first execute my complete school counseling program. As I begin at a new school, I would want to analyze the needs of the student population, make objectives to meet those needs, and develop school counseling lesson plans to meet those goals. To achieve the best student results, I will conduct program assessments and develop action plans appropriately. My objective is to focus on staff and student development, which I feel can be accomplished by first analyzing and then developing programs to meet the requirements of both groups.
It is my obligation as a counselor to track on-time graduation rates and to alert parents when students fall behind. I would also like to work with instructors to develop instructive classroom activities that are tailored to the requirements of the pupils. It is my responsibility to inform students, instructors, and parents about secondary possibilities.
In addition, I will make my counseling services available to individual students as well as big and small groups. Educational, emotional or social, and professional interests will be prioritized. When required, referrals and discussions with stakeholders such as school employees, parents, or community agencies will be offered.
I will use my organizing, planning, and scheduling abilities to keep track of not just my responsibilities and goals, but also of my students. My problem-solving abilities will be essential for this profession, and it is critical for me as a counselor to create relationships with both students and other staff members to identify how to best employ my skills.
Non-counseling responsibilities have been demonstrated to cause weariness, a poor work atmosphere, and general burnout, raising the counselor’s chances of incompetence and therefore diminishing his or her overall effectiveness. To assist the school and to promote my complete school counseling program, I propose offering time during lunch and after school for non-school counseling duties. I would also like to work with teachers and other staff members to develop more supportive policies and inclusive curricula, as well as anti-bullying training and education.
I believe that my talents and extensive school counseling curriculum qualify me for the post of school counselor at your school. Thank you for your consideration.
