Descriptive studies form an important part of research as the results of such studies are used as the basis of quantitative research efforts used in solving various problems, either clinical problems or patient care problems (Doyle et al.,2020). The implication is that nurses need to have adequate knowledge of the descriptive study designs and when to use each of the descriptive study designs. Various research articles have been published in the past and at present using descriptive study designs. One of the articles located is an article authored by Rodríguez-Fortúnez et al. (2019). This research was conducted with the aim of describing patients’ perceptions about telemedicine and identifying preferences on telemedicine resources for type 2 diabetes. The findings of these articles included about 75% of the patients who responded indicated that using telemedicine had optimized their management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Others reported that there is a need to improve user-friendliness and interaction with the medical team.

I feel the method applied in studying the topic was an effective one since it captured the required perceptions of the participants. The researchers used various visual representations to present their findings. One of the visual representations is shown below. The visual representation is about the distribution of patients according to their perceptions about how telemedicine may improve aspects connected to the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (Rodríguez-Fortúnez et al.,2019) The figure shows that most of the individuals connected improvement of various aspects of diabetes management to the use of telehealth. This representation was a good one since, by using the figure, the researchers were able to represent all the aspects of diabetes management.
