Week 2 Reflection
In this week’s learning, I have learned that PICOT is a model that helps create searchable clinical questions before looking at the literature. I have learned that PICOT questions have six domains: Therapy, Prevention, Diagnosis, Prognosis, Etiology, and Meaning (Riva et al., 2012). My PICOT question is: In children 4-12 years with ADHD (P), does incorporating cognitive training (I) compared to medication therapy alone (C) reduce ADHD symptoms by 50% (O) within 12 months (T)?

The PICOT is a Therapy type of question since it probes on the effectiveness of an intervention (incorporating cognitive training) in enhancing patient outcomes (reducing ADHD symptoms). I experienced challenges in identifying the specific age population for my proposed intervention and the measurable outcome for the PICOT. I can apply knowledge of PICOT question development to my current practice setting by developing therapy questions to establish which interventions can lead to the best outcome (Wyant, 2018). In my practice, I can identify Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) to help answer my clinical question.
