To begin, the goal of my project is to implement evidence-based treatments that connect with the mission and vision of St. Anthony Health and Rehabilitation Center, which is to provide compassionate care, clinical excellence, and community engagement. The Christian worldview, which emphasizes the significance of compassion and service to others, is consistent with the tenets of these ideals.

Second, the Roy Adaptation Model (RAM), which is the nursing theory that will direct my Doctor of Nursing Practice research, is congruent with both the Christian worldview and the core principles upheld by St. Anthony Health and Rehabilitation Center (Roy, 2018). It is consistent with the Christian principle of caring for the complete person that the RAM places an emphasis on understanding the specific circumstances of each patient as well as the ways in which they adjust to changes in their surrounding environment.

Third, the evidence-based change methodology that will guide my research is linked not only with the Christian worldview but also with the values that are upheld at St. Anthony Health and Rehabilitation Center. This strategy is known as the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) model. The Christian principle of growing and maturing can be seen reflected in the PDSA model’s emphasis on the significance of ongoing education and development and improvement.

For the purpose of incorporating GCU’s CWVs into my DNP project, I need to make sure that the interventions I conduct and the research I conduct are consistent with the Christian ideals of caring for others and fostering human flourishing. For instance, I will make it a point to ensure that all of my interventions are founded on the idea of compassion and that they place the patient’s well-being ahead of everything else.

Conclusion

The Christian worldview, the goal and vision of St. Anthony Health and Rehabilitation Center, the chosen nursing theory, and the evidence-based change model are all congruent with one another, as are my DNP project, the Christian Worldview and the chosen nursing theory. I am able to construct interventions that not only increase patient well-being but are also consistent with Christian beliefs of caring for others because I will ensure alignment across these various parts of the project (Bryant, 2020).  The purpose of this assignment was to investigate the degree to which an organization’s mission and vision, a selected nursing theory, a Christian Worldview (CWV), and an evidence-based change model are aligned with one another within the context of a DNP project aimed at enhancing patient outcomes at St. Anthony Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Anthony, Minnesota. This project was carried out at St. Anthony Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Anthony, Minnesota.

We have seen that there is a strong alignment between these many parts, with the organization’s mission and vision, the chosen nursing theory, and the evidence-based change model all reflecting Christian characteristics of compassion, service, and growth. This strong alignment can be seen throughout the company. We are able to devise interventions that are both beneficial to the well-being of patients and are in line with Christian beliefs if we ensure that these factors are aligned with one another. This assignment has shown how important it is to evaluate how different aspects of a DNP project are aligned with one another and how these aspects can work together to promote excellent patient outcomes and respect Christian ideals. Overall, this assignment has proven the necessity of examining how different aspects of a DNP project are linked with one another.

This paper outlines the writer’s knowledge and skills acquired from the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) curriculum and how they assisted the writer in the Direct Practice Improvement Project (DPI). Purpose of the Project

Before discussing how the DPI project connects to Christian worldviews and the organizational mission and vision statement, a discussion of the background and purpose of the project will occur. The purpose of this quantitative quasi-experimental project was to determine if or to what degree the implementation of Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Difficult Intravenous Access (DVA) Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) utilizing ultrasound-guided peripheral intravenous (USGPIV) would impact the number of Peripheral Intravenous Catheter (PIVC) attempts when compared to current practice among Non-critical Adult Difficult Venous Access (DVA) patients in an urban level 1 trauma Emergency Department in California over eight-weeks.
Research shows that the failure rate for traditional visualization and palpation methods for PIVC in a DVA patient is 10-40% (Emergency Nurses Association, 2019). This high failure

rate increases patients’ pain and discomfort because multiple PIVC attempts are needed to cannulate the vein and delay comfort measures such as medication administration, diagnostic testing, and Emergency Department (ED) Length of Stay (LOS). Several risk factors are involved in DVA patients, which increase the failure rate of the traditional PIVC method (Emergency Nurses Association, 2019). When a patient has been identified as DVA, the Emergency Nurse Association recommends using advanced PIVC techniques such as Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral Intravenous Catheter (USGPIV) to manage patients with DVA. However, currently, there is no nurse-driven structured process at LAC+USC Medical Center to use advanced techniques to manage DVA patients. This leads use to how the DPI project connects to Christian worldviews.
Christian Worldviews

Grand Canyon University’s (GCU) Doctrinal Statements summarize vital biblical doctrines that use the values of the Christian faith. GCU’s Doctrinal Statement (see Appendix A) establishes the University’s position, principles, and beliefs in providing education. The following are GCU’s beliefs; the bible is the true word of God, and there is only one God, and Lord Jesus Christ is his son and came down from heaven for our salvation. Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins and was buried. On the third day, he resurrected and took his seat as the right hand of God. GCU believes that Jesus Christ will come to earth once again to judge the living and the dead. The doctrine states that humans were created in the likeness of God and free from sin however were tempted by Satan and fell from righteousness and became sinful.
Furthermore, humans are sinful, but there is salvation through the holy spirit of Jesus Christ. To redeem oneself is to exercise your faith in God and Jesus Christ. Those who redeem themselves will ascend to heaven, and those who do not will be sent to eternal damnation. Also, as

Christians, we must engage in societal issues to expand the doctrine of God and humanity. The doctrine states we must love one another, love God, and obey him. As you can see, the University’s Doctrinal Statement is Christian-based and sets the foundation for its views; similarly, an Organization has a Mission and Vision statement that provides its views and how it conducts its business.

Organization’s Mission and Vision to Theory and Model

The Mission and Vision statement provides the client with the hospital’s purposes, goals, and values as it provides care to the community. At LAC+USC Medical Center, one can attain its Mission and Vision statement on its website. The Mission statement defines the hospital’s objectives and approach to serving its community, while the Vision statement describes the direction the hospital wants to go. This section will describe the mission and vision statement of LAC+USC Medical Center.
Mission and Vision

According to the LAC+USC Medical Centers website, the hospital’s mission statement is “To provide world-class care and education for all in our community” (LAC+USC Medical Center, 2022) (see Appendix B). The Vision statement for the hospital is “To lead the nation in building healthy communities” (LAC+USC Medical Center, 2022) (see Appendix C).

Connection of Mission and Vision to Nursing Theory. LAC+USC Medical Center’s mission and vision statement connect with Ida Jean Orlando’s Nursing Process theory on many levels. The Nurse Processing theory is based on the nurse-patient relationship, developing the role of the professional nurse, developing nursing knowledge, and immediately reacting (Butts& Rich, 2021). The concepts of the nurse processing theory can be expanded to the grander scale of the hospital-community setting. Research shows that hospitals can partner with the community to improve community health (Franz et al., 2021). Therefore, building a hospital-community relationship is equivalent to the nurse-patient relationship. The hospital must first find out the needs and priorities of the community to be able to offer the appropriate services.
Like the nurse-patient relationship, where a nurse should communicate with the patient, the hospital should have outreach to the community to understand their needs. The hospital can focus the resources on resolving the community’s needs rather than the hospital’s perceptions. Another example of Ida Jean Orlando’s Nursing Process theory that connects with the hospital’s mission and vision statement is that the nursing process theory’s foundation is to improve the health of the patient through a structured process. The hospital’s vision statement also declares it wants to lead the nation in building healthy communities. Ida Jean Orlando introduced nursing to the nurse process theory, a way for nurses to problem-solve and identify, prevent, and intervene to promote wellness (Semachew, 2018). Although the theory is promoted for the nurse-patient relationship, the same theory can be used in the hospital-community relationship. The nurse process theory can be used to problem-solve to improve community wellness and health. The hospital can assess the community’s needs, identify gaps in health, and intervene to

promote wellness. Not only does the mission and vision statement correlate with Ida Jean Orlando’s nursing theory but also with the Evidence-base (EBP) Change Model.
Connection of Mission and Vision to Evidence-based Change Model.

LAC+USC Medical Center’s mission and vision statement is connected to Kurt Lewin’s Change Theory. Kurt Lewin’s change theory and psychology theory of human behavior are used in organizational and community-based changes (Meringolo et al., 2019). The mission and vision of LAC+USC Medical center involve education and promoting healthy communities. To accomplish this mission and vision, change from current practices needs to occur. Research has shown that a change theory such as Kurt Lewin’s change theory should be implemented to accomplish effective change. The theories unfreeze, change, and refreeze concepts can apply to the mission and vision statement by educating the community on modern, up-to-date, evidence-based practices. New medical practices are consistently evolving, and further research improves health. The initial step to bringing about these new practices in the community is to unfreeze the community’s behavior. The community will be educated on the latest medical practices and informed of the benefits. Also, during this stage, all questions and concerns will be addressed.
During the change phase, the new medical practices will be implemented in the community and monitored for effectiveness. Lastly, during the refreeze stage, the changes will be cemented into community practices, thus ensuring the community’s health is based on current evidence-based practices that strive to maintain healthy communities. As we can see, these theories all connect with a holistic view of the individual and community. Discuss how a mission and vision statement, Christian worldviews, nursing theory, and change theory connect will be reviewed.

Pulling it Together

The DPI project proposed aligns with a Christian worldview, LAC+USC Medical Center’s mission and vision statement, Ida Jean Orlando’s Nursing Process Theory, and Kurt Lewin’s change theory through the principle of providing care holistically. According to the principles of a Christian worldview, God’s mission was the salvation of humanity through Jesus Christ, who provided care to the ill and loved and provided hope to humanity. As nurses, we also have the same responsibility to ensure patients are comforted and cared for by the person in mind, body, and spirit. It s not intrinsic for people to care for others, especially someone they do not know. The higher belief in Christ allows someone to care for others. Christian nurses render the ability to provide care to a whole person with compassionate care (Reig et al., 2018). Since nurses are Christ-like in delivering care to patients, nursing theories and other supportive theories should align with the care provided to patients by nurses. Both Ida Jean Orlando’s Nursing Process Theory and Kurt Lewin’s Change Theory align with the Christian worldview because they establish care and change holistically and consider a whole person. This is important in Christian theory because the whole person experiences and encounters the world, not simply the physical body. Being able to assess a patient’s physical, psychosocial, psychological, and spiritual needs is the essence of the Nursing Process theory. Also, in change theory, these same aspects need to be addressed because if there is no psychological by in from the individual, then change can not occur. If the whole person is not addressed, they will not change, nor will they be comforted because a component of the whole person’s mind, body, and spirit will not be addressed.
Ida Jean Orlando’s Nursing Process Theory, Kurt Lewin’s Change Theory, and the Christian worldview all align and address the person as a whole. These theories align with

LAC+USC Medical Center’s mission and vision statement. The organization’s mission and vision statement want to provide world-class care and education to the community and build healthier communities. The organization accomplishes this through care that addresses the body and the mind through extensive community outreach with psychology and social work to address poverty, homelessness, and social determinants of health. Lastly, they have a robust spiritual care department with various religious denominations to address the community’s spiritual needs. The organization addresses the community as a “whole” to address the community’s mind, body, and spirit. As you can see, LAC+USC Medical Center’s mission and vision statement, Christian worldviews, Ida Jean Orlando’s Nursing Process Theory, and Kurt Lewins’ Change Theory all align together to treat people and communities as a whole, treating the mind, body, and spirit, and not just a single component of the being.
The DPI project for the DNP course aligns with LAC+USC Medical Center’s mission and Vision statement, Christian worldviews, Ida Jean Orlando’s Nursing Process Theory, and Kurt Lewin’s Change theory as it assists with addressing the patient’s comfort sooner than the current process. It provides the nurse with knowledge and resources to identify a patient with DVA and use a tool that does not inflict more pain or discomfort. By decreasing the number of PIVC attempts, patients will be more comfortable and receive treatment for their discomfort sooner.
This aligns with all the theories and statements mentioned earlier.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the DPI project proposed for the DNP aligns with LAC+USC Medical Center’s mission and vision statement, nursing theories, change theories, and Christian worldviews. These components aim to align and provide the best care to the population served. These concepts must align with one to avoid conflict and misaligned goals. If there is conflict

amongst these components, the proposed care will be delayed, or the care will not be optimal. The patients we serve as healthcare providers deserve the very best from us, and aligning all parties involved with common goals, visions, and thought processes is the way to provide exceptional care and education to patients and enhance the community’s health.
